NPPF HISTORY

North Pittsburgh Past Finders (known inside the club as NPPF) is a metal detecting club in Pittsburgh, in Allegheny County, PA. Created in 1987 by a group of metal detectorists interested in preserving and finding lost local history, the group has grown to include history lovers, treasure hunters and explorers of all ages. At our monthly meetings, NPPF members have many chances to win prizes, between our coin raffle, 50/50, and door prize. We have many annual events throughout the year such as our seeded hunts, Spring raffle, and Holiday party. We also plan meet up hunts, guest speakers and mini metal detecting training sessions. From beginner to expert and everything in-between, if you enjoy being outdoors, learning about history, and digging in the dirt, then you will also enjoy being part of our club. All are welcome!

NPPF SEEDED HUNTS

NPPF hosts 2 Seeded Hunts a year. Our members have a lot of fun at our bi-annual seeded hunts. The club spends the day at a local park, where our Hunt Master plants a section of a field with quarters no deeper than a few inches. The seeded area is marked with cones. Once everyone is lined up, the Hunt Master starts the event and members use their metal detectors to find the hidden quarters in the field. Once the hunt is over, those quarters are exchanged for prizes. NPPF serves a much-needed lunch after the hunt where friends relax, catch up and brag about their hobby!

NPPF HOLIDAY PARTY

Our NPPF Holiday party is an event that the entire club looks forward to. It is a chance for members and their guest to relax and enjoy good drink, good food, and great conversations. Throughout the year, members submit their best finds for the month in hopes to win that month's friendly competition (see FAQ's for Find of the Month), all gearing up for a chance to win the Find of the Year at NPPF's Holiday Party. We keep the party exciting with puzzles, 50/50 raffles and a chance to win a special prize.
