Metal detecting as a hobby can be done year round, however, the Winter months tend to be most quiet. Then, as the birds start to chirp and the World begins to wake with buds and grass growing, detectorists begin to feel the excitement of the hobby!
But then comes the rain. Rain actually can make metal detecting easier! Rainfall can cause erosion and wash away topsoil, exposing previously buried objects or bringing them closer to the surface. This can make it easier to locate objects that were previously inaccessible due to being buried too deeply. Rain can also unearth or dislodge objects that were previously hidden or partially buried. This can lead to exciting discoveries such the relics below.
