The weather may have been cold on April 23rd, but NPPF members got hot while detecting at a seeded hunt.  Our hunt masters hid 50 plus painted and numbered quarters to hand in for prizes, as well as one large token that Rob Kovalak found and handed in for special coin prize.  Hotdogs and sodas were served.

Every metal detectorist's heart beats just a little bit faster when the opportunity to search an older property arises.  Members of North Pittsburgh Past Finders got their thumpers pumping on full speed this past April 15th, as they carefully and thoughtfully detected a farm from the late 1800s in Washington County PA.   

Various types of relics are saved on an older property.  Items such as old coins (think draped busts, 2 cents, barber quarters and dimes, mercury dimes, and of course everyone's dream, Old Copper Coins from the 1700s!  These relics are neat to find and save now, in a world where everything is digital!

NPPF members also can find pieces of history that shed some insight onto the daily lives of the farmer and their families.  Items such as spoons, forks, pieces of pottery and bottles are often recovered.  If you are lucky enough, you may even be able to save a family brooch, ring, or - all items that seem so common now, but must have been so special and valuable hundreds of years ago.
